If you receive a 421 Unexpected failure whilst atempting to send an email it could just be a temporary issue and nothing to worry about, it will resolve itself in a few moments.

It may look something like this…

421, response: Unexpected failure, please try later

However if the message looks something like this…

No action is required on your part.
Delivery attempts will continue for some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message remains undelivered.
Eventually the mail delivery software will give up, and when that
happens, the message will be returned to you.

Then it is likely that the receiving email may have problems, maybe check that you have the correct email address, etc.

If you experience this error everytime, and you are sure that you do have the correct email address etc, please contact mjptechnology.com through our Ticket Support and we will test your email and POP client settings on your behalf.

If you keep receiving 404 errors after clicking on links within your WordPress installation, and it seems to be happening throughout the entire blog, it is most likely that your blogs rewrite rules have been altered.
This is a common issue, and it is usually easily fixed by resetting the permalinks.
All you need to do is…

1. Login to the WordPress Admin Panel.
On the left hand side you will see the menu,
2. Click on Settings.
3. Now Click on Permalinks within the Settings Menu.
4. Make a note of the current settings. If you are using a custom structure it is a very good idea to save the structure in a safe place.
5. Select Default.
6. Click on Save Changes.
7. Now change the settings back to the settings as they were before you selected Default.
Again if you were using a custom structure now is the time to put it back!
8. Click Save Changes.

This process will have reset the permalinks and in many cases will have fixed the issue.
If the above didn’t work, you may have to edit your .htaccess file directly.
If this is the case you will need to add the following to the .htaccess file.

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress

The file is usually named config.php or settings.php or something similar.

Other warning errors may result from not following minimum system requirements for the script.
You should check the minimum requirments before you install any script or software.

How to setup a cron job in cPanel

This demo assumes you've already logged in to cPanel

Now let's learn how to setup a cron job

1) Click the Cron Jobs icon

2) Enter the email address where you want the cron job results sent after each time it runs

3) Now you have to define exactly when and how often you want the cron job to run. This is made easier by using one of the pre-defined or common settings

Notice that by choosing a common setting, all fields are filled in automatically. This also helps you understand what each field means

4) Let's choose Once a week

5) Next, enter the command of the script you want to run, including the path (from root)

6) When ready, click Add New Cron Job

That's it! The cron job has been set as you can see here. You can create additional cron jobs, and edit or delete existing ones

This is the end of the tutorial. You now know how to setup cron jobs in cPanel

This demo assumes you've already logged in to cPanel

Now let's learn how to use the Index Manager

1) Click the Index Manager icon

2) Choose the directory you want to start with, then click Go

The Index Manager enables you to control how directories on your website are displayed.

If there is no index.html file in a given directory, the contents of that directory will be displayed in a browser. This is typically undesireable, and can cause security issues. With Index Manager, you can set your account up to not allow your directory contents to be shown.

Let's setup Index Manager for the clients directory

There are 4 settings to choose from: Default System Setting - allows the directory contents to be shown, No Indexing - does not allow directory contents to be shown, Standard Indexing (filename only) - Prevents browsers from viewing the contents of directories that do not contain image files, Fancying Indexing - Prevents browsers from viewing the contents of directories that do contain image files

3) Since we do not want the contents of this directory shown, choose No Indexing

4) Then click Save

That's it! The Index settings have been updated, and visitors can no longer view the contents of the clients directory

5) Now let's change the setting back to default, thus allowing visitors to view the contents of this directory

That's all there is to it!

On the left is a collapsible list of folders in your account while on the right is a list of all files and folders within the folder selected on the left

It is in the public_html folder where your website files (html pages, gif images, etc) must go

3) Use this function to upload files to your account, and set their permissions

This demo assumes you've already logged in to cPanel

Now let's learn how to setup MX entries

1) Click the MX entry icon

Setting a custom MX entry is useful if you want your email handled by another server, or if you want to setup a backup email server.

2) Enter a priority number for the new MX record: the lower priority numbers will be tried first, followed by higher numbers

3) Then enter the new MX entry. Click Add New Record

That's it! The new MX record has been added.

So in this case, the default mail.mybiz123.net mail server will be tried first because it has a priority of 0 followed by the new mail server mx1.myexchange.com, because it's priority number is set to 1. You can return to this page at any time to make changes to your MX entries and their priorities…

4) … or to delete existing MX entries, which we'll do now.

That's it! We've just deleted the MX entry we entered earlier.

This demo assumes you've already logged in to cPanel

Now let's learn how to enable spam protection

1) First, click the Box Trapper icon

Box Trapper protects your inbox from spam by requiring all email sendings who aren't on your Whitelist, to reply to a verification email before you can receive their mail

2) To enable BoxTrapper for an email address, click Manage

3) Then click Enable

4) BoxTrapper has been enabled for this address. Click Go Back

You'll next want to configure your BoxTrapper settings

5) Click Configure Settings

You can set various options here, including auto-whitelisting for addresses you send email to

6) Click to Edit Confirmation Messages

From here you can edit the standard confirmation messages already setup for you

7) Next, click Edit White/Black/Ignore Lists

From here you can add addresses to your whitelist, blacklist, and ignore list

Once you have BoxTrapper setup the way you want, you'll notice a huge reduction in spam

Another option for controlling spam is to use SpamAssassin

You can use Spam Assassin in conjunction with Box Trapper for maximum spam control, or you can use Box Trapper on its own, or Spam Assassin on its own

Click here to enable Spam Assassin

9) Then click Go Back

10) Next you'll want to Configure Spam Assassin

11) From here you can setup your blacklist with email addresses you KNOW are spam…

12) … and can add email addresses to your whitelist… addresses you KNOW are NOT spam

This is the end of the tutorial. You now know how to enable the spam control applications BoxTrapper and Spam Assassin. Remember that you do not have to use both methods… you can choose to use one or the other if you wish. Using both simply provides the maximum protection against spam
